Flint was born on the Sanctuary Farm July 20th, 2014, at 1:45 in the morning. His mother Diamond and her 3 other children (Ruby, Pearl and Jasper) were rescued in August 2013 after the DSC was contacted by the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA. The DSC doesn’t breed donkeys but Diamond was already pregnant when she arrived and we were delighted to be able to help her with a safe, healthy birth!
The vet pronounced Flint to be 100% healthy and his mother, too, due to consistent proper care given by DSC staff. Flint is showing he is as strong as his name suggests, a feisty spirited donkey who from day 1 has shown great energy, kicking and bucking with his spindly knobby-kneed legs and tossing his beautiful little head around as he goes in search of food. He even picked up a piece of straw a few hours after being born and tried to gnaw on it before spitting it out.
The distinctive white blaze on his forehead shows his connection to his white mother Diamond, and his dun colouring and brown cross are like that of his sisters Pearl and Ruby and brother Jasper.
